From its opening scenes at Stonehenge to its railside finale with a sensational fire demon, this classic ‘50s chiller really delivers. Helmed by Jacques Tourneur, who had worked with producer Val Lewton on a string of RKO pictures in the early 1940s, Night of the Demon (aka Curse of the Demon in the US) is a masterpiece of suggestion. Dana Andrews is the sceptical American scientist battling a malevolent British occultist (MacGinnis) who has the power to raise demons to destroy his enemies.
